Topic: Figures of Speech
Overview:
In 3 lessons, I will explore figures of speech also known as; literary devices or
figurative language. This is an integral aspect in this field: Literature in English.
To help you assimilate this concept, I have categorized these figures of speech into
four:
• Figures of Similarity or Comparison
• Figures of Imagination
• Figures of Sound
• Figures of Association
By the end of these lessons, you should be able to:
1) Lists some literary devices and give examples;
2) Give the meaning of the literary devices listed, and;
3) Identify literary devices in literary texts.
